The Amazing Race (office version)

It's the second week of our own version of The Amazing Race at the office. We have 3 mini teams, Team Kelly (Vougan) headed by Mitch, Team Menny (Yakis) headed by Stan the Man, and Team Beth (Loggins) headed by the amazing Shawn (that's me hehehe)...about the name of the teams (go figure). As of today we are tied with Team Kelly for the first place, we picked a detour card last saturday and Team Menny picked the yield card and they chose Team Kelly to yield, so Team Kelly did not perform any tasks for the week. For the detour game, playing pictionary was selected as the challenge. We nailed the pictionary game, each team had to guess two (2) movie titles out of three(3). My team was able to name two(2) which is not bad given that i skipped the second movie title (Serendipity). I picked the easiest to draw i.e. Finding Nemo and House of Wax. Team Menny got one(1) out of three(3), Stan the Man(who boasted that he's Picasso incarnate), had a hard time with Saving Private Ryan(hehehe). GO TEAM BETH!

Good Hair Day

If it takes more than 3 minutes to dry my hair, it means that it's time for a haircut. I used to go to Fix salon to have my haircut, but a few months ago, I decided to go to another salon, my officemate had her hair cut at Menage salon in Gateway. Her cut was nicely done and she said the service was really good. So i tried it and yes, the service was good, it's much closer to my crib, the price is reasonable for a haircut, the stylist was able to cut my hair the way i want it. I feel more pampered on Menage, there's free iced tea and a little massage from the shampoo lady while you're waiting for your stylist. I've read some blogs on the internet that they weren't happy with the service and the haircut that they got from Menage salon. I've never had a bad experience yet, probably because i don't go there during their peak hours (hate crowded malls), i usually make an appointment during weekdays so i don't have to wait that long. To avoid a bad haircut, make sure that you tell the stylist what you really want, let them suggest but don't let them decide for you. Remember you're going to be stuck with that haircut until your hair grows back again. Bring a photo so they'll get an idea on how you want your hair to be styled. Just make sure that you're expectations are already set before you bring the photo, if you bring a photo of Brad Pitt to copy his haircut, don't expect that you'll look like Brad Pitt after the haircut. Hairstylists are people, don't expect a miracle.

Say Cheese!

You can tell that you are a member of my family if you love Kiri cheese. My mom discovered this cheese when she went to Greece. When she brought home a few boxes, my whole family was hooked. On her frequent trips to HongKong when i was growing up, she would hoard boxes of Kiri cheese in her suitcase, and if we happen to accompany her on one of her trips, half of the supply will be stuffed in our suitcase too. This was in the '80s and early '90s. Now you can go to a large grocery store/supermarket (like Rustan's shopwise, Unimart, PriceMart, Robinson's etc.) to buy this cheese. Our Princess, Hannah (my niece) just discovered last weekend how much she loves this cheese, she almost consumed a whole box (1 box = 6 cheese). Try it with hot pandesal. Hmmn sarap. For me, it's better than bagel with philadelphia cream cheese.

Not Helping!

That's Jasper and PJ with the large fries (Arrgghh!). Curses!

Help! I am an addict. (Supersize my tummy)

I'm addicted to McDonald's cheeseburger meal. For the month of April, there was a whole week and half that i was munching on cheeseburger, fries and coke for lunch. My lunch hour is at 4:30 am, but my tummy would crave for the cheeseburger meal as early as 2:30 am, which is my first break. I'd buy the cheeseburger meal during my first break and eat it while waiting for a call. McDonald's did not help curb my addiction by giving away coupons to supersize my cheeseburger meals. After 1 week and a half, my tummy is now supersized. I made a resolution last saturday not to eat a cheeseburger meal for this week, but my seatmate (PJ!!!) is eating fries (arrgghhh!), damn!
Oh well, tomorrow is another day to start my resolution.

Excitement is over

We were all excited about our tax refund, it was delayed and now we finally got an email from the payroll department informing us that it will be credited on our May 15th payout...after much anticipation...my total tax refund is P1695.53...dang! Last year my tax rebate was above 5k, so you understand why we're all excited. I was feeling sorry for myself until i saw PJ's (my team mate) tax refund...P8.193...Thank you God for the P1695.53.

Aarrgghh!!!Not again

When i watched the third installment of Xmen, we left the theater before they ran all the credits...missed the scene that sets up the sequel.

Again, with Iron Man, we went out of the movie theater before they finished showing the end credits...missed the secret ending.

I used to wait 'til they show all the credits, and i used to bug my movie companions/date(?) to sit through it. My dream then, was to see my name at the end credits of a movie as one of the production team. I remember when i worked on the movie "Bagong Buwan" by Ms.Marilou Diaz-Abaya, as a graphic design/production assistant (for Bahaghari Entertainment), I called all my friends and pleaded with them not to leave the theater until they see my name on the credits. sigh.

When you watch Iron Man, don't leave the movie theater after the credits or like me, you'll missed the extra scene.

This is really hilarious.

Ayron Man the movie

Watched Iron Man at Trinoma last Saturday after work. I'm not really familiar with the story of Iron Man, I am more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan. I grew up watching and reading about the Superfriends and Justice League. Like other Marvel superheroes, I had to google Iron Man to get an idea about his background, found out that he has a lot of similarities with Bruce Wayne (Batman). The main reason that i'm interested to watch it is because Iron Man is played by Robert Downey Jr. , one of my favorite actors and i think he did a great job. He's witty and has a great comic timing. The movie is action packed and entertaining, though I'm a little disappointed with Gwyneth Paltrow's role (loved her in Shakespeare in Love) and can't help but giggle when Iron Man starts flying(kinda gay). The movie is directed by Jon Favreau (Swingers). If you are not familiar with Iron Man, google him first to get the background story before you watch the movie. Some scenes on the movie are better understood if you know his story and how the sequels will evolve. I read that it will be a trilogy and all the main cast will be back for the sequels.

Red Box Shindig

We had our team GA at the Red Box in Greenbelt Makati last saturday. I'll be posting some pictures when im done playing at work (hehehe). The eat-all-you-can buffet was yummy, the drink-all-you-can booze was great. We all had a blast singing "Bohemian Rhapsody". We also had a billiard table inside the room, so those peeps who were not harassing us with their singing talent opted to play. The bill amounted to a little bit over 11,000.00 Pesos. We had a P6,000.00 budget for the team GA given by our bosses, we only had to shell out P260.00 each for the balance...not bad for a whole afternoon of partying. By the time i got home, i was a walking zombie plus I had to stop by at my dvd supplier (suki) to buy Hannah the new Barbie movie collection. Whew!

I love my job because...

It's been all play and a little bit of work for this week. Woohoo!
